Ideally, the Clippers would have kept Tucker on the team until the winter, when the trade market presents more realistic options. Then, Tucker’s higher salary could help the Clippers complete the deal. However, Tucker’s trade value is so limited that it would certainly cost the Clippers an asset to move him. It’s not that the Clippers don’t have weak positions. The offense lacks a consistent shooting threat, especially with Leonard out indefinitely to manage rehab on his right knee and without a reliable backup center. Newly acquired Mo Bamba sat out the preseason opener from scrimmage due to left knee soreness, and 2021 first-round pick Kai Jones still has to make the team after playing no NBA games last season. – through new york times / October 7, 2024
