After superstar quarterback Andrew Luck shockingly announced his retirement at age 29, the Indianapolis Colts, who are still among the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, have had trouble finding his long-term successor under center. Prime quarterbacks come and go.

The Colts were thought to have potentially struck gold following Luck’s retirement with high-profile quarterbacks like Philip Rivers and Matt Ryan, but Rivers only lasted one year and Ryan was well past his prime and struggling, so both veterans were sidelined in Indianapolis. Didn’t succeed. A short time with the team.

Fortunately for Indianapolis, there finally appears to be hope for the future. The team drafted Florida Gators star Anthony Richardson last year and will likely make him their Week 1 starter.

Although many critics praised Richardson and doubted his ability to become a star in the NFL, the former Florida quarterback made a smooth transition and proved his worth early on in Indianapolis.

However, a season-ending shoulder injury prevented the Colts from spending a full year with Richardson. But he’s healthy now and highly regarded by teammates, like linebacker EJ Speed, who spoke about him on “Up & Adams.”

“That guy is so humble. I think we’ll really find out who he is this season,” Speed said.

A humble quarterback with the skill set that Richardson possesses is just what the Colts need to turn the fortunes of this struggling franchise around.

If Richardson can stay healthy and continue to be productive on the field, the Colts’ immediate future could actually be very bright.
