The Indianapolis Colts are 2-3 in five games, and with games against the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins scheduled in the next two weeks, it looked like there was a chance they could top the .500 batting average.

But they will have to do so without one of their most important offensive cornerstones.

Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. is expected to miss several weeks due to a back injury, according to Adam Schefter.

Over the past few years, Pittman has been the Colts’ primary weapon in the passing game, and last season he had 109 catches for 1,152 yards, both career highs.

So far this season, he has caught 22 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown in five games.

Fortunately for Indianapolis, wideout Alex Pierce has blossomed and leads the team in receiving yards (368) and touchdowns (3) this season.

But they are a very messed up team right now.

Quarterback Anthony Richardson sat out the Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars with an oblique injury, and star running back Jonathan Taylor was sidelined with an ankle injury.

While Richardson has struggled this year, throwing six interceptions in the first four games, tied for the league lead, and completing just 50.6% of his pass attempts, Taylor has struggled to stay healthy over the past few seasons.

After Week 7, the Colts’ schedule gets more difficult. They’ll play the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings on the road before returning home to host the Buffalo Bills, so sledding could be tough for a while.
