The former player praised the Bears for hiring Ben Johnson.

The Chicago Bears have acquired one of the most promising and talented quarterback prospects of all time.

Unfortunately, while he showed glimpses of greatness in his rookie season, it became painfully clear that someone else was needed to coach Caleb Williams.

So they hired the best coaching candidate for him.

With that in mind, former NFL QB Chase Daniel tipped his hat to the Bears for landing Ben Johnson.

“They caught the man. … This would be revolutionary for the Chicago Bears offense,” Daniel said on “The Facility.”

Over the past few years, Johnson has landed a job as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.

His creative play design and planning orchestrated one of the most entertaining offenses in league history.

Of course, being an assistant coach is different from being in charge.

There have been several great assistant coaches in the past who have struggled to achieve the same level of success as their head coach, so now is not the time to get too worked up about this hire.

It will also depend on what moves the Bears make to address their struggling offensive line.

As talented as Williams is, and as good as Johnson can be as a head coach, if your QB is constantly running for his entire life, they’re not going to be able to get much done.

This was a big step in the right direction for Chicago, but much more is needed for continued success.
