Roma are competing to sign Lille striker Jonathan David, who is said to be a target for the club this summer.

With Romelu Lukaku set to return to Chelsea after completing his loan spell, Roma have identified Jonathan David as their ideal replacement.

The 24-year-old has scored a total of 43 goals over the past two seasons, making him one of the most exciting targets in the upcoming summer transfer window.

It is said that preliminary talks took place between Roma and David’s entourage.

Now the Giallorossi must face Lille.

The French side reportedly demanded 40 million euros. It’s a request that hasn’t deterred Roma from pursuing Canadian talent so far.

According to Corriere della SeraRoma believes David’s contract is sustainable and compatible with new projects.

The player ‘only’ earned less than €2 million, which fits well with the club’s new plans to lower wages.

The Giallorossi will have to deal with competition from Milan. Paulo Fonseca wants to bring David to the Rossoneri.
