The Jets have interviewed 13 candidates for the vacant general manager position and nine candidates for the head coaching job, with more on the way.
On Tuesday, a 10th candidate for the head coach position emerged. Report from NFL Network They requested an interview with Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr.
For the 46-year-old Whitt, who is in his first year in Washington, this will be his first interview for the head coaching job.
Interestingly, the Jets interviewed Washington assistant general manager Lance Newmark for the team’s vacant general manager position on January 11th.
Washington plays the Lions in the NFC divisional playoff round Saturday night, so we won’t be able to interview Whitt until the Commanders are out of the playoffs.
Whitt joins head coach Dan Quinn in Washington after spending the previous three years as a passing game coordinator and assistant coach with the Cowboys, where he also worked with Quinn.
Washington ranks 13th in overall defense (327.9 yards allowed per game) and 18th in opponent scoring (23.0 ppg).
