The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected the no objection certificate (NOC) request from the national cricketers for the upcoming 2024 Jim Afro T10 League.

The reason the PCB took this decision was because the tournament was not sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The Shan Masood-led team suffered a humiliating 0-2 defeat to Bangladesh in the recent home Test series.

Pakistan’s next assignment is a three-match Test series at home against Bangladesh starting October 7. The Men in Green will travel to Australia in November for a white-ball series.

Pakistan Cricket Board Denies NOCs to Pakistani Cricketers – Report

According to recent media reports, the PCB has stated that it will not grant no objection certificates to Pakistani cricketers to participate in the 2024 Jim Afro T10 League until the tournament gets official approval from the International Cricket Council.

Several Pakistani players including Shahnawaz Dahani, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Irfan, Sharjeel Khan, Salman Arshad were set to play in the Zim Afro T10 League 2024. However, the PCB’s decision has impacted the participation of these players in the franchise league.

Shahnawaz Dahani, Asif Ali and Haider Ali have also committed to play in the 2024 Champions One-Day Cup, which will be held from September 12 to 29. Following the 50-over tournament, the Pakistan national cricket team will face England in a home Test series.

The league licence was granted by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board.

Jim Afro, a T10 League spokesman, said the league was approved by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board and did not need ICC approval as the Zimbabwe Cricket Board is a full member of the ICC.

“The Zimbabwe Cricket Board is a full member of the ICC and the league licence was granted by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board,” the spokesman said.

The Jim Afro T10 League is gearing up for its second edition, with the team adding a 16th global icon player, bringing its roster to 15.

The tournament will be held at the Harare Sports Club in Harare from September 21 to 29. The league’s fast-paced 10-over format has attracted interest.

Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan NOCs rejected by PCB

Earlier this year, the PCB refused to issue no-objection certificates to several players who participated in the Global T20 Canada and The Hundred.

Standout players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan have not been named in any of the NOCs for the 2024 Global T20 Canada season.

Naseem Shah has also been denied NOC for the 2024 Men’s The Hundred season. Pakistani cricketers are participating in various global T10/T20 leagues including The Hundred, Big Bash League, Lanka Premier League, CPL, Global T20 Canada and BPL despite not playing in the IPL.
