Dolphin was a strategic backup of the 2025 quarter back Tua Tagovailoa.
Mike McDaniel explained that the team spent a lot of time studying ZACH Wilson before signing a pick in the first half of last year.
“To be honest, it is an inaccurate science, but we thought he was the best choice for us.” McDaniel said When he asked about his confidence in Wilson at the NFL League meeting in Palm Beach, Florida this week. “I think he’s a lot, you don’t know this, I think you’re flying blind, so (laughs) he was a direct calculated goal.
“We thought it was pleased to see how it could get better for Miami dolphins and how he captured that opportunity.”
Wilson, 25, was spent with Broncos last season, but he did not snap in Denver after losing a starting quarter back with BO NIX, who was 12th in the 2024 NFL draft.
The BYU product was a starter of the jet for the first three seasons, and it was traded with Bron Course due to inconsistent play.
McDaniel praised Wilson in 2021 with Jets’ high draft picks and the start of the season.
McDaniel said, “This has been in our hearts for a considerable time and has different situations for everyone … I saw all the snaps of his college play.
“It is powerful in that there are few people who know what it is like to receive a high draft in New York City, and there are few people, such as seeing his resolution, or seeing a place where he digests all the situations. It is similar to what we can do, which can be a source of adversity, power and growth, or can be defined in your life.
“What I see in ZACH is the second pick in the draft, and I don’t fulfill the first week of the starter. It’s an interesting view because I can’t measure a big human ability in the quarterback position.”
Wilson has completed 57 %of 6,293 yards of career pass with 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.
McDaniel added that Tagovailoa has succeeded in dolphin’s current culture and system.
“No comparison of the player -without comparing the player in the record -Tua [Tagovailoa] McDaniel learned that this environment helped him through the process. “As a coach, we want to literally provide everything to his game. I am excited about where he is based on him.”
