The reason Trump appointed Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense is to clean up the military and get rid of all the crap that gets in the way of our soldiers doing what they need to do.

So far the opposition to Hegseth has been entirely predictable and almost meritless.

But the story below really focuses on what it’s all about.

Look at this. It is from Ministry of Defense website:

Department of Defense Addressing Climate Change as a Security Issue for Africans

African countries witness the effects of climate change every day, including desertification in the Sahel region, unusually destructive storms, and flooding. Average temperatures in Djibouti, in the Horn of Africa, have increased every decade since 1971 and are expected to continue to increase in the future. Djibouti, a country with a large U.S. military presence, is already one of the hottest countries on Earth.

“This is an issue that our African colleagues repeatedly raise with us in almost every engagement they have abroad,” Farrell said.

The Department of Defense is clearly aware of the challenges posed by climate change and global warming, Farrell said. The U.S. military, as well as the Marine Corps, must be ready to operate in any “climate and location,” and U.S. planners are working with their African counterparts to learn new practices, techniques and procedures to operate in changing climates.

“The opportunity to participate in foreign exchanges also helps prepare America’s strategic readiness and interoperability with militaries around the world,” Farrell said. African countries have a lot to teach American soldiers about operating in stressful environments.

Are you fighting climate change in Africa? When and how did this become part of our military mission?

Some Twitter/X reactions:

This is why America needs Pete Hegseth in the Pentagon. Because this all has to end.
