Todd Phillips thinks his Joker will be a Batman fan

Todd Phillips’ Big Promise joker was stripping away the cartoon elements of the title character and showing what would happen if an ordinary guy in 1980s Gotham decided to put on clown makeup. (It turns out things weren’t going well for those around him, mainly.) The original film featured a young Bruce Wayne, and you might wonder what would happen if the adult Batman were to meet this version of his nemesis. According to director and writer Todd Phillips, he thinks Arthur Fleck would find Batman neat. (You might be shocked.)

Recently IGN In an interview, Phillips explained that Arthur “will be in awe of the alpha male that is Batman.” I think [he’d] Look for it and be thankful.” From what I read, Arthur is “attracted to comfortable men” like his co-star in the first film and Robert De Niro’s talk show host Murray Franklin. Those guys are everything he’s not, so why wouldn’t that extend to Batman as well? Perhaps this Batman knows that Arthur is responsible for his parents’ murder, but perhaps they can overlook that fact.

text joker The fascination clearly had its limits, as Arthur eventually lost his cool and shot Murray in the face on live TV. Still, there’s something problematic about Phillips’ statement about how Arthur came to fall in love, either romantically or platonically. But Warner Bros. probably isn’t interested in making this movie. decades Convert the subtext between bats and jokes into actual text, or at least better. lego batman This already happened in 2017. Considering Arthur’s luck with the people he likes, it’s likely that everything between this Clown Prince and the Dark Knight old enough to punch him in the face will end in a bad romance.
