When judging a player’s creativity, we often look at the number of assists he has provided. But it doesn’t always paint the whole picture. No matter how great the final ball is, it needs finishing. In other words, the final ball ultimately depends on the ability of the scorer.
Meanwhile, the opportunities created are a much more self-sufficient statistic. This tells you how creative a player is as an individual, by how many goal-scoring opportunities (shots that don’t end up in the back of the net) he creates for his teammates. In the list below, we take a look at the five most creative players in the Premier League, and how many chances they have devised since the start of the 2024-25 season. Let’s get started!
5th place Dwight McNeil (Everton): 30 chances created
Starting the list is Everton left winger Dwight McNeil, who has created an impressive 30 chances in 11 Premier League appearances. McNeil, 25, has also emerged as one of the team’s most influential players, creating eight big chances, providing three assists and scoring three goals.
The England U21 star was in top form against Crystal Palace on Matchday 6. He scored an excellent assist to give the Toffees a 2–1 win over the Eagles.

A magician in the final third, the 2023-24 Premier League Young Player of the Year has created 32 chances in 12 Premier League games. The Englishman is also Chelsea’s main goal contributor, scoring seven goals and providing five assists so far. Without his timely intervention, Chelsea would not have finished third in the Premier League standings.
