Travis Kelce wasn’t talking about the Kansas City Chiefs resting many of their starters against the Denver Broncos on Sunday as they looked to knock the Cincinnati Bengals out of the playoffs and keep them there.

to ‘New Heights’ PodcastJason Kelce brought up that speculation to his brother, a star Chiefs tight end, and he scoffed at the notion.

“I’m not afraid to have sex with anyone,” Travis Kelce said. “I wanted them in the fucking playoffs. I want to kill all the dragons one by one like Mortal Kombat. I don’t want this to be like us playing the lowest seed. Just give me the best team.”

“It gives you AFC, NFC, Mortal Kombat style,” Kelce added. “I will go through every single one of them as best I can. I am not afraid for a single soul.”

“We’ll do it in the Walmart parking lot. … We can play our own game in the offseason and really compete.”

The Bengals (9-8) finished the season with five straight wins, led by career seasons from Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. However, losses to the Miami Dolphins and Broncos were needed to advance to the postseason. Miami lost 32-20 to the New York Jets, but the Broncos (10-7) beat the Chiefs 38-0 to clinch the AFC’s final wild-card spot.

Burrow finished the season leading the league in passing touchdowns (43) and passing yards (4,918). Chase won the receiving Triple Crown, beating his peers in three key categories: 1,708 yards, 17 touchdowns and 127 receptions. And defensive end Trey Hendrickson led all players with 17.5 sacks.

After the Bengals defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 19-17 in the season finale Saturday night, coach Zack Taylor said the rest of the NFL “won’t want us in this tournament. I promise you that.”

The Bengals advanced to the Super Bowl after the 2021 season, beating the Chiefs 27-24 in overtime in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium, before coming back strong in the AFC title game the following season, losing 23-20. Before the loss, Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton referred to the Chiefs’ home as “Burrowhead.”

“I’ll play the game in the Walmart parking lot,” Kelce said. “I don’t care. We can have our own game in the offseason where we can really compete.

“Listen, I love competing against the best. The Bengals were a really fun team to watch out there at the end of the season, so it’s a shame they didn’t make the playoffs. It made the playoffs a lot crazier, a lot more fun. “Yes.”

The Chiefs (15-2) have a bye this week as the AFC’s top seed.
