President-elect Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson agreed to a deal that would fund the current government but increase the debt limit by $1.5 trillion and cut spending by $2.5 trillion. This looks like cutting back on the healthcare sector.

At the Republican conference — Republican leaders put up a slide containing an “agreement” on the debt limit.

The “agreement” states that House Republicans will raise the debt limit by $1.5 trillion in the “first reconciliation package,” along with a promise to cut $2.5 trillion in “net mandatory spending over the course of the reconciliation process.”

Assemblyman Jerry Nadler pointed out:

We can’t cut $2.5 trillion in mandatory spending without deep cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

I will stand with @HouseDemocrats to fight these cruel and harmful cuts.

If you’re wondering what essential spending is, see the chart below.

After Trump For Johnson, Social Security is reportedly off the table, which means cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and veterans’ health care. Republicans in particular will try to get rid of Medicaid.

Rep. Nadler is right that the only way Republicans can achieve their goals of mandatory spending cuts is by destroying Social Security and all major health care programs. This is the only way to reduce $2.5 trillion in mandatory spending.

Trump, Musk and the Republican Party are planning to destroy the country’s health care system in exchange for tax cuts for the rich.

Anyone who voted for Donald Trump because they thought he would lower prices could lose their Medicare and Social Security benefits.
