Istanbul -US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the proposal to purchase Donald Trump’s purchase of Greenland is not a joke but a serious stage that matches the interests of the country.
Rubio said in an interview with Megyn Kelly, a reporter in Sirius (1/30), “This is not a joke… This is not to acquire territory. This is about our country’s interests and must be solved.
Rubio explained that Trump plans to pursue the acquisition of Greenland, a self -autonomous area of Denmark.
“Trump has already expressed his intention to buy Greenland,” he added.
The best diplomat in the United States acknowledged that it was sensitive to discussing such proposals publicly and that negotiations would be better through official diplomatic channels.
Rubio said, “It’s a good approach to that way. “If you open it publicly, the other side is in a difficult position in Korea.”
Greenland was a Danish colony until 1953, but is now autonomous. The island attracted Trump’s attention because of its strategic location and rich mineral resources.
last week, Financial Times Danish Prime Minister Danish Prime Minister MetTE Frederiksen and Trump reported 45 minutes of calls on the Greenland issue and reported that Copenhagen’s officials are deeply concerned.
Trump raised the idea of buying Greenland during his first term, but Denmark refused immediately.
But returning to Trump’s return to the White House raised concerns about withdrawing efforts to occupy the island.
