Would it surprise you if I told you that Pepe Reina is still an active player? Well, he and Alberto Moreno are set to move in the same summer.

Reina, now 41, has been away from Anfield for 10 years, while Moreno, 32, left Liverpool five years ago in 2019.

They were like passing ships when Reina left the club in the summer of 2014 to sign Moreno, but the pair have been team-mates in Spain since 2022.

The defender remained there after leaving Liverpool to sign for Villarreal, with Reina joining him in 2022, but is now a free agent after both were released.

However, this situation is unlikely to last long, as Serie A side Como 1907 have signed the pair after they were promoted to the top flight.

Depending on the mark, Fabrizio Romano and TuttomercatoWebThey are expected to sign a one-year contract to add experience to the team.

The newly promoted side have Thierry Henry as an investor, Dennis Wise as club president and Cesc Fabregas is currently Ossian Roberts’ assistant coach.

Como are back in Serie A for the first time in 21 years after winning promotion last season and have been keen to bring in several high-profile players, including Raphael Varane and Andrea Belotti.

Reina is set to join as a backup goalkeeper, while Como are set to sign Pau Lopez from Marseille, but the fact that he is still playing at the age of 41 is a testament to his professionalism and dedication.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper made 12 appearances for Villarreal last season, mostly in cup competitions, a significant drop from the 32 he made in 2022/23.

Moreno, on the other hand, played in 33 games last season after returning from a second ACL injury, his first for an Italian club.

He didn’t choose a bad place to live!
