With the NFL season just around the corner, it’s easy to see where most teams stand right now.

Some people are real competitors, some are just hopefuls.

What’s notable is that there are teams that can and should be considered major failures unless they make a deep postseason run.

With that in mind, NFL analyst Bucky Brooks singled out the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys as two teams facing “tremendous pressure” this season (from Around the NFL).

The Cowboys had one of the most disappointing offseasons in the league.

Not only did they refuse to fire HC Mike McCarthy after one of the most humiliating playoff losses in franchise history, they failed to sign a single high-profile player.

Despite Jerry Jones’ insistence that he was “all in,” the Cowboys have not extended the contracts of their current stars.

With Ceddy Ram yet to report to training camp as he awaits a new contract, they could be on the verge of disaster.

For the New York Jets, keeping Robert Saleh will be next to impossible unless they make it to the AFC Championship Game.

GM Joe Douglas has given him and Aaron Rodgers all the weapons they need to succeed, and if things don’t work out for whatever reason, he’ll likely be gone too.

But unlike the Cowboys, the Jets might actually be able to compete.
