Tyrod Taylor catches touchdown pass during Jets scrimmage

Here’s what I observed from the Jets’ training camp practice on Saturday.

Impressive guy

Robert Saleh said Aaron Rodgers “looks like he’s never missed a beat” after Achilles surgery and called him an “impressive dude” after the quarterback ran more than 40 plays in his return to action in the Jets’ green-and-white scrimmage Saturday in sweltering weather at Florham Park.

Not that impressive

There’s not much to complain about, but center Joe Tipman fired a shotgun snap over Rodgers’ head and running back Isaiah Davis lost a fumble.

Rogers Report

Rogers led three drives that resulted in field goals against the Jets’ first-team defense.

He unofficially completed 19 of 30 passes for about 210 yards.

caught my eye

The only touchdown pass during scrimmage was a downfield connection between backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor and wide receiver Jason Brownlee.

Injury Report

Cornerback Michael Carter II is expected to miss one to two weeks with an ankle injury.

Offensive tackle Tyron Smith (resting) also did not participate in practice.
