The United States won the toss and asked Candada to bat first, and Canada posted a brilliant batting performance against the United States in their first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, posting 194 for 5.

Fifties from Navneet Dhaliwal (61 off 44 balls) and Nicholas Kirton. (51 off 31 balls) helped Canada maintain the momentum, and Shreyas Movva’s 16-ball 32 cameo at the end helped them post a challenging total on the board. Movva collected 21 runs from the last over to give the Canadian innings some much-needed momentum.

Ali Khan, Harmeet Singh and Corey Anderson each picked a wicket for the country. America’s most successful chase in T20Is was 169 and they need to create history if they want to own the opening night of this mega event.

The United States successfully chased the goal of 195 points in Texas. After losing a few wickets early on, the US saw Aaron Jones and Andries Gous score half-centuries each, the former finishing the chase just six runs ahead of 100 runs. Despite chasing a strict target of 195 runs, the US reached the total with over two overs to spare.

Aaron Jones received the Most Valuable Player award for leading the game to victory. He said it’s hard to put into words, it’s a big competition, but he’s excited to get his team first tonight. He added that he knew about 200 people could give chase and they backed themselves to do it. He mentions that he returns to the game after practicing hard. He has been with the team for a while and I think they are under pressure but he reiterates that he is happy to take his team home once again.
