Peter Schmeichel has played for both Manchester’s flagship clubs in his career and that loyalty appears to have never left him.

A key figure in United’s success in the 1990s, the Dane finished his City career in his final season at Maine Road in 2002/03.

A 60-year-old man recently appeared as a guest on a broadcast. focus on soccer When asked who the best goalkeeper currently playing in the Premier League is, he immediately chose Ederson, with David Raya a close second.

Gary Neville appeared surprised his former Old Trafford team-mate did not select Alisson Becker, but Schmeichel hit back: “I think Alisson is fantastic in terms of playing one-on-one and making big saves. [but] I think Alisson has some foot problems. “There are some mistakes that you don’t see with Ederson,” he said.

Of course, the former United stopper is perfectly entitled to his opinion, especially as someone who represents his position brilliantly when he plays, but claiming Liverpool’s number one is questionable when he has the ball is ridiculous. It’s like that.

Look no further than his 90-yard pass to Mo Salah last night against Bologna, or his pinpoint long-range assist for the Egyptians as we beat the Red Devils in January 2020 as evidence of his passing ability. Sublime.

Actually it looks like this: FBrefAlisson has a pass completion percentage of 85.3% throughout his career, just shy of Ederson’s 86.6%. Additionally, the Reds goalkeeper ranks first in save percentage (75.3% – 72.1%) and has a much better return on post shot xG compared to actual goals allowed (26 – 1.4).

We’ll have to respectfully disagree with Schmeichel on this one!
