Visit the Lamont Open House – State of the Planet

to Saturday, October 19thThe public is invited to explore our world-class research facilities. Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory It’s located in Palisades, New York, just outside of New York City.

Once a year, scientists at Columbia’s Lamont Campus for Climate and Earth Sciences share their work and discoveries through lab tours, lectures, and hands-on science activities that are informative and engaging for all ages.

Attendees will learn about exciting developments in Earth science and how increasing knowledge about our planet can help preserve our future. The diverse exhibits target a variety of ages and education levels, from elementary school students to college students to those well versed in Earth science. With this exhibition it will be a lecture Covering ocean floor mapping, microplastics and nanoplastics, climate impacts, and more.

Because this year is also the 75th anniversary.Day For the Lamont anniversary, expect expanded offerings, including art exhibits based on scientific research. AI interpretation of climate disasters; not ice pods We use radar to track changes in ice sheets and glaciers. And much more.

Free shuttle buses depart for the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory campus and return to Columbia University’s Morningside campus in Manhattan throughout the day. Check detailed location and schedule.
