Visitor traffic increased 4.6% year-on-year; 2% increase in convention traffic

From the Las Vegas Visitors Bureau: Las Vegas Visitor Statistics for May 2024

May was a healthy month with over 3.6 million visitors, led by festivals like EDC and conventions that surpassed last year’s attendance. A 4.6% increase this month compared to the same period last year.

As the show cycle continues, Waste Expo returned to Las Vegas in May (14,000 attendees, last time in May 2022) and the destination hosted its first-ever Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo (10,000+ attendees).

Overall hotel occupancy reached 86.1% (up 1.7 points), weekend occupancy reached 93.4% (up 0.2 points), and weekday occupancy reached 82.5% (up 1.7 points). ADR exceeded $200 and RevPAR exceeded $172, showing YoY increases of 9.1% and 11.3%, respectively.

The first graph shows visitor traffic for 2019 (black), 2020 (dark blue), 2021 (light blue), 2022 (light orange), 2023 (dark orange), and 2024 (red).

Visitor traffic increased by 4.6% compared to May last year. Visitor traffic decreased by 0.9% compared to the same month in 2019.

The number of visitors increased by 0.4% compared to 2019.

The second graph shows convention traffic.

Convention traffic increased by 1.8% compared to May 2023 and decreased by 11.3% compared to May 2019.

Convention traffic so far this year is down 8.7% compared to 2019.
