The extension of Laxman’s tenure coincides with the opening of a new state-of-the-art NCA campus on the outskirts of Bengaluru, which is expected to be operational by early next year. The new facility, whose foundation was laid in January 2022, boasts extensive amenities including more than 100 pitches, an indoor facility with more than 45 pitches, three international-sized stadiums, a modern rehabilitation center and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
During his first term at NCA, Laxman focused on strengthening injury management, player rehabilitation, coaching programs and development plans for various Indian cricket teams, including senior team, age group and women’s team. One of his upcoming challenges will be to continue to expand the India A tour program despite the complexities posed by a jam-packed international schedule.
