Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh have spoken highly of Virat Kohli ahead of Team India’s bitter rivalry against Australia tonight.

The much-anticipated clash between India and Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will take place tonight at the Darren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia. This will be the first time since the 2016 edition that the two cricket rivals will face each other in a T20 World Cup edition. There was no India-Australia clash in both the 2021 and 2022 editions.

India’s meeting with Australia later tonight marks the third time these two rivals will meet in an ICC competition since 2023. Exactly a year ago, Australia shocked the Indians with a 200-plus-run win in the final of the World Test Championship. Just a few months later, the two met again in the Cricket World Cup final in Ahmedabad.

Even therein, the format may have changed but the Australian spirit has not, as Pat Cummins’ side became the first team to win both a white-ball and a red-ball event in the same year. 2024 offers the opportunity to not only win a second World T20 title but also become world champions in all formats.

But for that to happen, the Australian team needs to beat India today to advance to the semi-finals. If they lose and Afghanistan win against Bangladesh tomorrow, the Asian team will head to the last four stages. However, if the Bangla Tigers win, the Baggy Greens’ chances could be slim.

Australia’s future lies in their hands and they need to contain challenges to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. Ahead of the all-important clash, the Australian players who will be playing tonight – Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell and T20 captain Mitchell Marsh – spoke highly of Virat Kohli in an old video that has resurfaced.

Glenn Maxwell salutes Virat Kohli’s drive and dedication.

In an interview with Star Sports last year, Virat Kohli’s former RCB teammate Glenn Maxwell paid tribute to the latter’s drive and dedication. Maxwell thinks everything Kohli has achieved in his career is very good and has high praise for his ability to get up and get better every day.

“His drive and dedication to get better every day. It’s incredible what he’s been able to accomplish in the game, but he still works hard every day to get better. He’s incredibly driven and I really respect him. He wakes up every day and The ability to get better.” – Maxwell told Star Sports.

Pat Cummins admires Kohli’s work-rate and Mitchell Marsh goes back to Kohli’s rivalry with Mitchell Johnson.

ODI and Test captain Pat Cummins highlighted Virat Kohli’s work-rate and willingness to be involved in every game for the country. “I admire the way Virat Kohli approaches every game and competes, whether it is batting or on the field. He plays 100 days a year and does it all.” – said Cummins.

Mitchell Marsh highlighted the rivalry that Virat Kohli had with Mitchell Johnson during the earlier tour of Australia. Marsh claimed that Kohli is the biggest reason why the India-Australia rivalry has heated up recently.
