Richard Hughes is set to actively hold talks with Liverpool’s new manager Arne Slott over a transfer this summer.
The former Feyenoord manager admitted that ‘most of my time’ will be dedicated to coaching his team at Anfield.
“So work with your team and prepare your team in the best way possible. Me and Richard will be working together on the transfer, but it’s not just the two of us, there’s a big backroom staff involved as well. ,” the dutchman said liverpoolfc.com.
“I think this is the way I have always worked. Most of the time I spend working with the team and the rest is probably time for my family and talking to Richard about ways we can strengthen the team. But we already have a really strong team.”
This follows agreed changes to the scope of the manager’s role, which is currently defined as a ‘head coach’ position.

What does Liverpool need in terms of influx?
Ideally, we need a new centre-back, a holding midfielder and a new wide man.
There are early indications that we are looking to tick a couple of boxes, considering links to the likes of Lenny Lloro (Lille), Krysencio Somerville (Leeds United) and Michael Ollis (Crystal Palace).
Considering Wataru Endo’s excellent performances in 2023/24, there is an argument to be made that signing a holding midfielder is not a priority. Not to mention the very exciting prospect of us moving up the ranks in Stefan Bajcetic.
With Luis Diaz struggling to provide serious goal returns and questions being raised about Mo Salah’s suitability for the right flank, there are plenty of justified ways to strengthen the forward line.
