Bill Belichick failed to land a head coaching job in the offseason and has taken on a number of media roles, including The ManningCast, but he still wants to return to the sideline.
Beginning in January 2025, Belichick will once again be looking for a role to finish off his legendary Hall of Fame career. And one of his former players, wide receiver Julian Edelman, believes the New York Giants are where he wants to be.

“The most appealing thing to me is that the New York Giants are open,” Edelman said during the appearance. company. “And I’m not asking for anybody’s job. I love (Brian) Daboll. Daboll is my favorite player. But the fate of what they put on the field… you go down with the ship.”
General manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll have been as committed to quarterback Daniel Jones as several previous regimes have been. So far, it hasn’t paid dividends, and in just one week, the 2024 season already feels like a lost cause.
If the East Rutherford meltdown continues, it wouldn’t be unprecedented for co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch to blow everything up again and start over. Again.
NFL pundits and insiders already see such a reset coming, and Billychick’s name has been mentioned more than once.
“If that were open,” Edelman continued, “I remember vividly every time we played in New York or against the Giants, you could hear a little jingle in Billychick’s mind. He loved to talk about that old Giants team. And he loved to talk about that organization. You could tell he loved the New York Football Giants.
“He really likes the Giants, so I think that’s probably where he’d want to go.”
Edelman says one potential stumbling block is the dire state the Giants are in. As much as Belichick likes the Giants, he may not want to take on the task of rebuilding the entire organization from the ground up.
None of that matters at this point, because for now the Giants are holding their own against Schoen and Daboll. But as the losses continue and their respective positions warm up, the chatter about Belichick is likely to intensify.
