The US vice president has pledged support for Israel as he accepts the Democratic nomination.

Kamala Harris, the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants, has become the first black woman and first person of South Asian descent to accept the presidential nomination of a major U.S. political party.

If elected, she would become the first female U.S. president.

At the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Harris promised to be a leader for all Americans.

She also defended Israel’s “right to defend itself” and called for a ceasefire in Gaza.

But how does she compare to President Joe Biden? And can she beat Republican nominee Donald Trump?
