The WNBA announced its 2023 regular season schedule on Wednesday, saying the season will run from May 19 to Sept. 10 and feature a record-breaking 40 games per team.

The W’s four-game series, which opens Friday, includes the Washington Mystics taking on the New York Liberty, the Connecticut Sun traveling to Indiana Fever, the Minnesota Lynx playing the Chicago Sky, and the Phoenix Mercury traveling to Los Angeles to face the Sparks.
Defending champion Las Vegas begins its title defense on Saturday, May 20, with a road game against the Seattle Storm. The Atlanta Dream and Dallas also play in Dallas. On Saturday, Connecticut hosts Washington, Indiana travels to New York, and the Sky play the Mercury in Phoenix.
The W will host its 19th All-Star Game on July 15 at a location yet to be determined. The Commissioner’s Cup will be played from May 19 to July 12, with the championship game on Aug. 15. The WNBA’s 40-game regular season schedule is four more than in 2022 and eight more than in 2021. The league will announce its TV and streaming schedule at a later date.
The blockbuster 2023 free agency period begins on January 21, when free agents can begin negotiations. Those free agents can sign contracts as early as February 1. The Sun, Wings, Fever, Mystics, and Sparks all filled head coaching vacancies as free agents entered the season. The Sun signed Stephanie White, the Wings signed Latricia Trammel, the Fever signed Christie Sides, the Mystics signed Eric Thibault, and the Sparks signed Curt Miller.
The 2023 WNBA Draft is scheduled for April 10, 2023. The Fever holds the first overall pick.
