WRC Commission (February 5, 2025)
Media update following the WRC Committee meeting on February 5, 2025.
The first WRC committee meeting in 2025 was held yesterday at a video meeting on Wednesday, February 5. The main topics of the discussion include the development of 2025 strategies, bidding timelines and 2026 WRC regulations, the planning and goals of the WRC promotion group, and the vision of the WRC promoters to improve the WRC application and storytelling. The meeting was chairman of the chairman of the Pernilla Solberg WRC Committee and Marina Duñach, the FIA WRC category manager.
The following is an outline of major discussion points and decisions.
WRC sports update
The WRC Sporting Groups will start back every month after Rally, with the specified goal to finish the draft of the 2026 WRC regulations by September to submit it to the World Motor Sports Council in October.
In 2026, the selection criteria for the junior WRC partner and the available options and the enrolled Rally4 Cars championship will be considered in the Sports Task Group. Another major discussion point is the definition of the framework that applies from 2026 to help WRC organizers develop a rally journey to maintain a better work/rest ratio for crew and championships.
Digital innovation to improve storytelling
The WRC Promoter has provided a presentation for strategies for better use in the WRC to help all stakeholders help and create new tools to improve coverage and storytelling.
The FIA Safety Task Force was placed in Rally JAPAN
The WRC Committee agreed to issue a yellow card to the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF), as suggested by the FIA Closed Road Commission due to safety issues in November 2024. As a result, the FIA Safety Department will deploy a dedicated task force that focuses on improving the workflow between rally control and safety sailors on the stage.
FIA operating safety officer Clément Lauté also announced a new structure of safety groups on a closed road during the session. The team includes a WRC safety manager and a new employment of the WRC safety manager and a new employment of the WRC vice president and department who work at the FIA Full-Time, which supports the WRC safety manager and the FIA Priimägi’s WRC stage. Award -winning crew with the FIA chairman medal
As in Formula 1, the crew of each WRC event will receive a new FIA chairman from the WRC’s Spanish round, Rally Rally Islas Canarias. This initiative allows the FIA medal to be awarded as part of the podium consciousness to commemorate the achievements of the driver and the driver, allowing them to be a personal record of success. The first three -round crew will receive prize money.
