Australia suffered a blow in the T20I series against England as right-arm speedster Xavier Bartlett was left out.

Left-armed seamer Ben Devarshuis has been added to the squad for the remainder of the series, which is scheduled to be played in Manchester on Sunday, September 15.

Xavier Bartlett suffered an injury to his side in the series opener. The right-arm pacer could not complete his spell in the first T20I at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton.

Australia lost the 2nd T20I in Cardiff on September 13 by three wickets. The three-match series between England and Australia is level at 1-1.

Ben Dwarshuis replaces Xavier Bartlett for the remainder of the T20I series.

Xavier Bartlett is the third Australian fast bowler to be ruled out of the England tour this month, following Nathan Ellis and Riley Meredith.

Ellis suffered a hamstring injury during the 2024-2027 season, while Meredith suffered a soreness in his side after the first T20I against Scotland.

Spencer Johnson was also ruled out of Australia’s T20 squad ahead of the tour with a groin injury. Josh Hazlewood missed the Scotland leg with a minor calf injury.

Ben Devarshwith will join the Australian squad for the third and final T20 match at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday.

Ben Dwarshuis last played for Australia in December 2023.

Xavier Bartlett played the first two T20Is in the previous series against Scotland. The fast bowler recorded figures of 4-0-23-2 and 3-0-20-1 in Australia’s 3-0 rout.

Bartlett dismissed Jordan Cox before leaving the field, with Cameron Green completing the over for Southampton.

Ben Devarshuis made his international debut in Lahore in April 2022 but failed to take a wicket, conceding 42 runs in three overs.

He took two wickets in the last T20I match for 30 runs in four overs. He played for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred and took four wickets in two matches.

Mitchell Starc joins Australia squad for ODI series against England

Australia can win a bilateral men’s T20 series against England for the first time since 2014 if they win the final T20 match.

Both teams will be trying their best to secure a series win. It is worth noting that Mitchell Marsh missed the last match and Travis Head led the team during the second T20I.

Left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc will return to bolster Australia’s pace attack in the five-match ODI series starting at Trent Bridge on Thursday.

Starc has been rested for the six T20 matches in England. Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith and Alex Carey are also expected to join the ODI squad.

Australia updated T20 squad: Mitchell Marsh (c), Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardy, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Riley Meredith, Matt Short, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa, Ben Dwarshuis
