Yahoo has revived Artifact in its new AI-powered news app.

The Artifact is gone. Long live Yahoo’s version of Artifact. The architecture of Artifact, the news-gathering app built by Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, will continue inside Instagram. New Yahoo News App.

The new Yahoo News app, available for download today on iOS and Android, offers an AI-powered, personalized news feed based on users’ interests, and a feature called Key Takeaways highlights news stories when readers feel there’s a catch. You can provide a bulleted summary of the ;DR.

Other features of the Yahoo News app include Top Stories, which selects popular articles for users to read and will soon include key takeaways. Not only can you block stories containing unwanted keywords, but you can also filter specific publishers as per your preference. Like Artifact, Yahoo News allows you to flag content like clickbait headlines and then have AI rewrite it into something better.

Yahoo is also taking some of the content it’s building from its News app and bringing it to the Yahoo News online homepage. Starting today, the website features a new layout that highlights top news, provides personalized recommendations, and showcases trending topics. The new homepage experience is optional.
