You can now store your US passport in Google Wallet.

Now you have one less item to fish out of your pocket or purse at the airport. Starting today, you can carry a digital copy of your U.S. passport with you and use it at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints through Google Wallet.

if you want To add it to your Google Virtual Wallet, you first need to download the Google Wallet app and log in to or create an account. Check the message “Create an ID Pass with a U.S. Passport” and follow the instructions. The app asks you to take a video selfie to verify your identity and scan the security chip in your passport. It only takes a few minutes for Google to verify your identity.

Digital passports do not work at all airports. There are currently 27 states (and Puerto Rico) that have at least one airport that accepts digital IDs. We can tell you which states and airports accept digital IDs.

I’ll be using and storing my digital passport in Google Wallet for a while. In the past few months, several states have begun accepting digital IDs. is the latest state to accept digital IDs, including driver’s licenses and state IDs, in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.
